This coffee from the Matongo commune was a first-place winner of the coveted Cup of Excellence in

2013. Processed through one of Burundi’s few double fermentation washing stations, Kinyovu coffee cherries are cultivated by women coffee farmers in a high-altitude microclimate, grown among tea, bananas, beans and cassava plants. Through a partnership with a nonprofit organization of women and men in the coffee industry, these farmers receive training on best practices for quality coffee production, from caring for the trees to careful sorting of the ripened cherries during harvest.

We discovered this coffee at our annual coffee conference in Seattle in 2017. Native Burundian Jeanine Niyonzima-Aroian, approached Natalie in her search for female roasters to purchase this incredible coffee from female producers in her home country. As a side note, when Natalie started roasting coffee with Little Red Wagon in 2013, only 13% of roasters were female.

Women make up all parts of the coffee supply chain and Jeanine’s company, JNP Coffee, focuses on gender equity by educating women farmers on high-quality coffee production and providing them with leadership and financial literacy trainings. In addition, JNP Coffee pays a significant premium to women farmers to promote quality and assure sustainability for some 1,950 families in the communities where these beautiful coffees are sourced.

**Don't Forget! These beans are green right now! We need you to place your order, so we can roast it especially for you and ship FRESH on Tuesday . Wait, tell me more…

At Treeline we like to keep it fresh. All coffees ordered are roasted, packaged and shipped on demand each week on Tuesdays. Orders must be placed before 5 a.m. PST in order to have your coffee shipped that week, because as much as we like to think we are awesome - we are not awesome enough to predict what you might be ordering.

All orders after this time will ship the following week. If this seems like a SUPER long time to wait for caffeine (don't worry, we get it) please leave us a note and we will do everything in our caffeinated power to sort you out.

Due to our cafes being extra needy, we roast some coffee other times in the week as well - if your coffee happens to be the same coffee that they are getting, consider yourself a winner-winner-chicken-dinner because we will probably ship earlier then we just told you we would.
